Mohamed Elhilo, 57, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon following an unprovoked stabbing on Rideau Street on Wednesday.

The attack occurred just before 11 a.m. in the 300 block of Rideau, where the suspect approached an unidentified victim and stabbed them, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The victim then boarded an OC Transpo bus, which prompted emergency services to the scene. Paramedics took the man to hospital in stable condition.

Elhilo was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
