A man in his 60s was in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle in central Ottawa on Friday, Aug. 14, just after 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Bronson and Renfrew avenues, south of the Highway 417 overpass.
Ottawa Paramedic Service responded to the collision. The Ottawa Police Service issued a temporary road closure while emergency services were on site, but the roadway was subsequently reopened.
This is the second serious pedestrian collision in the city in recent weeks. As HOC reported in June, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Vanier and treated at hospital; another pedestrian was struck on eastbound Highway 417 near Vanier Parkway in late July.
Police have not yet released details on the vehicle operator or whether any charges have been laid. The pedestrian's current condition and the hospital where the man is being treated have not been disclosed.
