The City of Ottawa is waiving its three-item limit for curbside garbage for three west-end wards starting July 7, after the record-breaking Canada Day storm left residents dealing with fallen branches, debris, and flood damage.

The move comes as the city continues assessing the damage from the June 30 downpour that flooded over 2,000 basements across Ottawa. The temporary waiver will allow residents to set out additional garbage without the usual restrictions during their regular collection days.

West-end residents facing cleanup of storm debris can now dispose of extra items without worrying about collection refusals, giving homeowners more flexibility as they work through the aftermath.
