Storm-waste disposal fees waived at Ottawa landfill for flood-affected residents

Ottawa is waiving disposal fees at the Trail Waste Facility Landfill for residents who have submitted service requests for flooded basements or storm-related waste from the July 1 rainfall event.
To receive the fee waiver, residents must provide their service request number (digital or printed copies accepted) and valid photo identification with proof of address. Residents who already paid disposal fees can request reimbursement by retaining their tipping receipt, service request number, and valid identification.
The city has also expanded green bin capacity for spoiled food and organic waste resulting from extended power outages. Residents can place additional garbage bags beside their green bin, provided each bag is clearly labelled "Green Bin." These materials will be collected with regularly scheduled green bin pickups.
The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open on additional Saturdays in coming weeks to accommodate increased demand. Residents affected by the storm may continue placing eligible storm-related materials at the curb without following the standard three-item garbage limit.
