Intimate partner violence reports in Ottawa fell 5 per cent in the first six months of 2026, according to the Ottawa Police Service. There were 3,775 IPV-related incidents recorded from January through June 2026, compared to 3,977 for the same period in 2025.

The OPS committed to reporting IPV statistics twice yearly to enhance accountability and raise awareness about violence against women. The data covers all IPV incidents reported to the service, representing both male and female victims. The most common reports involved assault-partner breaches, harassment by communication, and assault with a weapon.

Among sexual assault-partner cases, 82.3 per cent of victims identified as female and 17.4 per cent as male. By age group, 44 per cent of sexual assault-partner victims were between 30 and 44 years old, 27.6 per cent were between 20 and 29, 14.9 per cent were between 45 and 59, 8.9 per cent were under 19, and 4.6 per cent were over 60.

If you are experiencing intimate partner violence, help is available through police, shelters, and crisis lines.
