Three separate assaults struck Ottawa on the evening of July 23, with two involving edged weapons, according to the Ottawa Paramedic Service.
The first incident occurred at about 9:12 p.m. at King Edward Avenue and Murray Street, just northeast of the ByWard Market. A man in his 20s was assaulted with an edged weapon and transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Shortly after, around 9:14 p.m., paramedics responded to a call in the 100 block of Clarence Street, in the heart of the Market. A female of unknown age had been assaulted — her injuries were serious, but she remained stable in hospital. Paramedic Service acting superintendent Nicolas Guertin could not confirm whether a weapon was involved in that case.
The third assault happened at about 9:42 p.m. near Shoreham Avenue and Craig Henry Drive in Nepean. A man in his 50s was attacked with an edged weapon and also sustained serious injuries. He too was stable in hospital.
All three victims were transported for care and listed as stable.
