A red SUV backed into a barber shop on McArthur Avenue in Vanier on Tuesday evening, Sept. 22, leaving two men with serious injuries. One man, who was in or near the business at the time, sustained life-threatening injuries and required resuscitation during transport to hospital. Another man was hospitalized in stable condition with serious injuries. No one in the vehicle was hurt.
The crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. near Larouche Street. The front entrance area of the two-storey building was severely damaged in the impact. A grey vehicle also sustained minor damage. More than a half-dozen emergency services vehicles remained at the scene into the evening.
McArthur Avenue was closed to vehicles and pedestrians in both directions between Olmstead Street and Cyr Avenue following the incident. The cause of the crash and the driver's condition remain unknown.
