A 57-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving after a red SUV backed into CuTzz Barber Salon in the 100-block of McArthur Avenue in Vanier on Tuesday at 5:40 p.m. The woman is alleged to have been impaired by drugs.
A 30-year-old who was inside the shop died on the way to hospital. A 32-year-old, also in the shop at the time, is in hospital with serious but stable injuries. Both were inside the two-storey business when the vehicle struck it, coming to rest perpendicular to the building in the westbound lane of McArthur Avenue.
The Fatal Collision Investigation Unit is handling the investigation. McArthur Avenue was closed following the crash but has since reopened.
The woman is scheduled to appear in court on September 24.
