Two e-scooter crashes leave one dead, another critical
A 55-year-old died after colliding with an SUV on June 14; a second rider in his 20s was hospitalized the next day in Barrhaven.

Two e-scooter collisions in as many days have left one person dead and another in life-threatening condition.
On June 14 at around 8:05 p.m., a 55-year-old man riding an e-scooter collided with an SUV at the intersection of Carling and Fairlawn Avenue, across from Carlingwood Shopping Centre in Nepean. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died.
On June 16 at about 9:30 a.m., a man in his 20s riding an e-scooter collided with a commercial refrigerated cube van at the intersection of Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive in Barrhaven. He was hospitalized in life-threatening condition.
Ottawa Police Service is investigating both incidents and seeking witnesses or dashcam footage from the areas around the time of the collisions. Anyone with information can contact the Fatal Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2345.
