Tornado warning issued for Barrhead area northeast of Edmonton Thursday night

Alberta Emergency Alert issued a tornado warning Thursday evening for the County of Barrhead near Thunder Lake and Holmes Crossing.

At 8:52 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm possibly producing a tornado in the area of Thunder Lake Provincial Park, roughly 85 km northwest of Edmonton. The storm was moving east at 25 km/h.

The warning came less than 24 hours after a tornado hit Dillberry Lake Provincial Campground near the Saskatchewan border, injuring five people.
