Environment Canada issues tornado warning for Manitoba as severe storm moves east
A severe thunderstorm was tracking about 20 kilometres west of Salt Point Saturday, moving east toward Winnipegosis with potential for damaging winds and large hail.

Environment Canada issued a tornado warning Saturday for parts of Manitoba as meteorologists tracked a severe thunderstorm moving east at 20 kilometres per hour.
As of 4:03 p.m. CDT, the storm was about 20 kilometres west of Salt Point and in the path of Winnipegosis. The weather agency warned that the storm could produce damaging winds, large hail, and locally intense rainfall in addition to a potential tornado.
"This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation," Environment Canada said in an alert.
Residents were urged to take cover immediately in a basement, interior room, or sturdy shelter if threatening weather approached. Environment Canada also warned that "tornadoes can be wrapped in rain and may not be visible." Anyone on the water was advised to return to shore and seek shelter; if that is not possible, to move away from the tornado's path, wear a life-jacket, and lie face down while protecting their head.
