Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for parts of Parkland County, located about 57 kilometres west of Edmonton, on Friday afternoon at 5:34 p.m., then cancelled it by 6:27 p.m.

The warning said thunderstorms near Wabamun Lake were producing conditions for a potential tornado and moving eastward at 40 km/h.

The brief alert came after a stretch of severe weather across Alberta. One tornado touched down at Dillberry Lake Provincial Park on Wednesday evening, sending three people to the hospital. An Environment Canada meteorologist said that Alberta can expect more tornado-related activity in the next six weeks.
