A tornado warning was issued for part of Yellowhead County in central Alberta on Friday afternoon.

At 5:54 p.m., Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a warning for areas near the communities of Cadomin and Robb. "Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado," the weather agency said in an Alberta Emergency Alert. "Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible."

ECCC advised extra care and attention in and around Wolf Lake, Cynthia, Brazeau Dam, Cadomin, Robb and Chungo Creek. "This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation," the alert stated. "Tornado warnings are issued when a thunderstorm is producing or is likely to produce a tornado."

The agency advised people to take cover immediately if severe weather approaches. For a complete list of all weather alerts currently in effect in Alberta, people can visit the ECCC website.
