Two arrested after stabbing in downtown Fort McMurray early Thursday

A 37-year-old man was seriously injured in a parking lot attack at 10002 Franklin Avenue. A 34-year-old Fort McMurray woman and 35-year-old Grand Prairie man have been charged with aggravated assault.

Two suspects have been arrested after a stabbing in downtown Fort McMurray early Thursday, July 2.

According to Wood Buffalo RCMP, the incident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. when a 37-year-old man was found seriously injured in the parking lot at 10002 Franklin Avenue. Emergency Services transported him to Northern Lights Regional Center.

Police found two alleged suspects nearby and took them into custody. The injured man and the two suspects — a 34-year-old Fort McMurray woman and a 35-year-old Grand Prairie man — were not previously known to each other, the RCMP said.

Both have been charged with multiple offences including aggravated assault. The RCMP has not publicly released their names. Investigations are ongoing with the assistance of Forensic Identification Services.
