GO Transit will begin daily year-round service between Stratford and downtown Toronto on July 6, offering residents of the southwestern Ontario town direct access to Union Station.
On weekdays, trains leave Stratford at 6:16 a.m. and arrive at Union Station at 8:47 a.m. The return train departs Union Station at 4:52 p.m. and arrives in Stratford at 7:28 p.m. Weekend trains run at 8:49 a.m. and 6:16 p.m. departures from each end, arriving at 11:16 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. respectively.
Both weekday and weekend service will stop at the Stratford station on Shakespeare Street, less than a kilometre southeast of downtown Stratford, along with stations in Kitchener, Guelph, Georgetown, Mount Pleasant, Brampton, and Bramalea.
As of June 24, weekday fares for the full route hadn't been finalized, but the distance to Kitchener — one stop before Stratford — costs at least $16.32. Single-day weekend passes cost $10 and include unlimited travel across the GO network. Children 12 and under ride free, as do veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members; youth aged 13 to 19 and seniors receive discounted rates.
Customers can purchase tickets online, though a ticket office won't initially be available at Stratford station. Presto fare cards will eventually be supported.
