Health Canada issued a recall notice on October 3 for Taeyangcho gochujang, a popular Korean hot pepper paste made from fermented chili peppers, over undeclared wheat in the product. The recall affects three sizes: 170g (barcode 8801075012323), 500g (barcode 8801075012316) and 1kg (barcode 8801075012620). The product, recognizable by its distinctive red container, is widely available in big-box grocery stores and Asian markets.
The recall was triggered by a customer complaint. The product has been distributed in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
