Three people were arrested in Saint-Sauveur in the Laurentians region last Friday in connection with an international drug trafficking operation, RCMP announced Wednesday.

Sébastien Morel, 42, and Evens Pierrelouis, 50, both from Saint-Sauveur, and Rodrigue Gionet, 72, from New Brunswick, were arrested at a home used to import drugs from Colombia. Officers seized approximately 67 kg of cocaine, $115,000 in cash, firearm ammunition, and several cell phones.

All three face charges for importing and possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They were expected to appear at a Montreal court for bail hearings on Wednesday, with all three remaining in custody pending those hearings.

Two other people were also arrested during the search but were released the same day. RCMP said they may face charges at a later date. According to the RCMP, the drugs were shipped from Colombia in metal cylinders to the home in Saint-Sauveur.
