Unionized General Motors workers were wrapping up voting on a new tentative agreement Sunday after Unifor and the automaker reached a deal on August 22.
The tentative contracts cover more than 4,600 autoworkers across four Ontario facilities: GM's Oshawa assembly plant, the CAMI facility in Ingersoll, and operations in St. Catharines and Woodstock. Union members voted over the weekend on whether to ratify the agreements.
Unifor National President Lana Payne said the agreements deliver strong wage and benefit increases for workers at each location. The contracts were negotiated following Unifor's earlier agreement with Ford, which included three per cent annual pay increases and a renewal of a no-closure agreement.
Talks between Unifor and GM started earlier this month after the Ford deal was reached.
