Bottega Volo, the bottle shop and Italian café from the Bar Volo team, is opening a second location in the Junction Triangle this fall. The new spot will take over space in the Clock Factory Building at Dupont and Campbell, behind the recently shuttered Pizzeria Defina.

Like the original Little Italy location, the new Bottega will wear multiple hats: an Italian café with all-day drinks and snacks including sandwiches and Italian "lunchables"; a pantry stocked with imported Italian goods; and a bottle shop carrying beer — some brewed in-house by Volo, some from other producers — and wine. The location will also house the brand's growing collection of imported kegs.

Co-owner Julian Morana said the expansion came from practical need. "Bottega was initially a Covid pivot to survive — we basically deconstructed our entire menu and sold it to go," he said. "That spiralled into us sourcing retail items and cool products no one else has. It's very surreal that we're now opening another location."

The Morana family — brothers Julian and Tomas and father Ralph — has expanded their import arm since the pandemic through Keep6 Imports, bringing in unusual wines from around the world and specialty items like Lapos non-alcoholic negronis and Siesta and Co.'s Galician tinned fish.

"We were looking for warehouse space downtown to facilitate all these side projects," Morana said. "Campbell came around, and we saw the opportunity to flip it into our new headquarters for beer, retail, hospitality and events."

The space will also host Cask Days, the beer festival celebrating its 20th anniversary this October. Year-round, the venue will host tastings, brewery showcases, educational events and festivals.
