Mailo's opens first North American pasta spot at CityPlace
Greek street-pasta chain with 50+ locations brings its fast-casual concept to Toronto on Friday.
Mailo's The Pasta Project, a fast-growing Athens-based chain, is landing in North America for the first time — and Toronto is its launch pad.
The concept is "street pasta": casual, high-quality, built for speed. Founded by Nikos Moutsouroufis, the chain has expanded across Greece, Cyprus, and Lebanon with over 50 locations. Now it's setting up shop in the heart of CityPlace.
"Toronto is our strategic launchpad — a multicultural, trend-driven city that will help shape our future growth across North America," Moutsouroufis said. "Our first store is designed to be more than just a point of sale; it's a destination where we can build awareness, foster community, and introduce guests to the Mailo's experience."
The menu promises 13 different pasta dishes designed for younger, fast-paced consumers seeking both convenience and quality. Based on what's offered at locations across the Mediterranean, expect options ranging from classic carbonara to dishes inspired by Greek pastitso — comfort with a contemporary edge.
Mailo's Toronto officially opens Friday, June 12, at 357 Bremner Blvd. in CityPlace. The timing is strategic: summer dining season is ramping up, the neighborhood is densifying, and there's proven appetite for elevated fast-casual concepts that don't sacrifice flavor for speed.
