The Fancy Induced Burger — the Bloor and Bathurst spot with a Barney purple sign and a syringe as its logo — has captured the attention of visitors and locals alike since opening in 2024. The restaurant's central gimmick is burgers served with syringes full of liquid cheese meant to be injected directly into the patty.

U.K.-based musician Jim E. Brown, in Toronto for a July 11 show at the Garrison, decided to test the concept himself and shared his unfiltered taste test on Instagram. "It has a syringe in and you 'induce' it with cheese," Jim E. says in the video. "Birth is a disgusting act, and food is quite disgusting, but it tastes quite delicious, or appears to."

Jim E.'s verdict? "It's lovely. Proper Canadian stodge." With another location in North York, TFIB has earned bemused — if bewildered — attention from locals since it took over the Annex corner address that housed FatBurger. The name itself has prompted questions: did they mean to say infused? Injected? Either way, it's become one of the only truly one-of-a-kind establishments in the city.
