A Toronto burger restaurant is now serving a sort of secret "burger omakase," and here's how you can get in on it. At Friday Burger Company on the Danforth, chef Joe Friday is cooking up a chef-crafted multi-course experience for in-the-know diners, beefing up the Japanese tradition of omakase.
While a traditional omakase typically revolves around ten or more small, largely sushi-based bites, Friday has instead opted for five burger and burger-adjacent courses, followed by a dessert. The inaugural omakase featured quite the spread: lobster caviar grilled cheese, wagyu bacon jam burger, Nashville hot chicken sandwich, the restaurant's Monday and Friday Burgers, and Mississippi mud pie to round it all off.
There's a catch, though — the whole thing is very hush-hush. To score a seat at a future Friday Burger Omakase, you'll have to send the restaurant a DM on Instagram expressing your interest in an invitation. The next time they're cooking one up, they'll let you know. In the meantime, you can get a preliminary taste of Friday Burger Company at 2162 Danforth Ave.
