A quick-service burger joint is taking over a former condo showroom at one of the city's most saturated restaurant intersections.

A new independent burger restaurant is opening soon at the southwest corner of Queen and Pape in Leslieville — a neighbourhood already thick with burger options.
Finding a patty sated near that intersection is easy: Soy Boys offers plant-based burgers, Avling slings restaurant-quality thick patties, and pubs scattered further west on the strip all have their own takes. The team behind New Era Burgers isn't worried about the competition.
Taking over what was formerly a condo showroom, the restaurant's ownership describes New Era Burgers as a "passion project" and notes the neighbourhood has already welcomed them warmly. "We're incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we've already received from the community," the team tells us.
The menu will be made entirely fresh to order using "premium ingredients" and "no shortcuts" — cheeseburgers with or without bacon in single or double patties, grilled and crispy chicken burgers, and a vegetarian option. While the neighbourhood doesn't lack burger spots, New Era is filling the gap of an independent, quick-service burger joint that serves meat.
The restaurant is still under construction, and a firm opening date hasn't been confirmed, but the team assures us they're "hoping to open very soon."
New Era Burgers will be located at 1001 Queen St. E.
