Kela Greek, a new frozen Greek yogurt shop, opened its soft doors on Sunday, June 21, on St. Clair Avenue, bringing a viral trend from New York and Los Angeles to Toronto.
Unlike traditional froyo laden with sugar, these spots serve soft swirls of unsweetened, frozen Greek yogurt straight up — equally suited to breakfast or dessert. A cup runs around $10, topped with an assortment of sauces, fresh fruits, and other garnishes.
The shop has already amassed a following despite the brief time it's been operating. The price hasn't deterred the crowds who turned out on opening day, drawn by the macro-friendly appeal and the social-media buzz surrounding similar openings in major U.S. cities. As NYC's viral soft-serve margaritas recently made their way to Toronto, it looks like it's shaping up to be a soft-serve summer in the city.
