Martha Stewart paid a visit to Cheese Boutique in Etobicoke this week, and the shop's owner Afrim Pristine went all-out for the homemaking legend.

According to an Instagram post Wednesday, Pristine received a request from Stewart's team asking for a cheese selection for her green room at a Toronto event. "I asked for how many, and he said, 'Just for Martha.' So that was not just a little pressure," Pristine told blogTO.

Pristine knew Stewart loves Époisses, a pungent French cheese, so he built the board around that theme—stacking it with robust French selections including various Époisses options. But he also made sure to represent Ontario cheesemakers, balancing the French selections with harder, nuttier Canadian options: aged Gouda from Mountain Oak Cheese, an alpine-style smooth and nutty cheese from Wildwood Artisan Cheese, and cheddar from Cows Creamery.

He rounded it out with luxury cured meats—36-month Ibérico ham, Espelette pepperettes, Ibérico chorizo, and thinly sliced Bündnerfleisch, a Swiss cured beef tenderloin. The whole package was a masterclass in curating for a discerning palate.

"I've done a lot of orders for the rich and famous, but Martha, in my books, is the biggest one yet," Pristine said. According to Herb, Stewart's team member, she declared the board "fabulous." And in true Stewart fashion, she packed up the leftovers to take home. The visit marks another high-profile moment for one of Toronto's most celebrated food destinations.
