Magnolia Bakery, the famous New York-based dessert shop known for its creamy, layered banana pudding, is expanding into Ontario with 10 new locations.

"Canadians we heard you & we're heading north," the company announced in a recent LinkedIn post.

Founded in 1996 in New York City's West Village, Magnolia Bakery has become one of the most recognizable dessert destinations in the U.S. Its signature banana pudding — layers of creamy vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and vanilla wafers — has developed a cult following, often drawing long lines no matter the season. The bakery's red velvet cupcakes were an early claim to fame, and the shop was featured on HBO's Sex and the City in 2000, cementing its status as a tourist destination.

Beyond the U.S., the bakery already operates shops internationally in Kuwait, India, the Philippines, Qatar, Turkey, and the UAE.

The Ontario expansion will be led by franchisees Chetanshi and Shaishav "Shay" Thakkar, who aim to grow the brand across the province. Along with its signature banana pudding, Magnolia offers cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, and bars.

The company hasn't yet revealed which Ontario locations will open or when customers can expect to visit, but more details are expected soon.
