Millie Desserts is back in Toronto—now serving from an Adelaide Street window

Christinn Hua opened her first Millie Desserts shop in Kensington Market in 2013, and within years had built a devoted following for her mille crepe cakes in unexpected flavours like yuzu and matcha. Sister locations in the Entertainment District and Markham followed, and frozen cakes stocked T&T Supermarket freezers across the city.

Then the closures began. Pandemic uncertainty shuttered the Markham spot. The Kensington location closed. By 2024, Hua had pulled the plug on the Entertainment District café too. For the past two years, Millie Desserts existed only in limited form—slices served at the bar Yueh Tung and custom orders taken by Hua herself.

Now it's back. On Thursday, Hua opened a new Millie Desserts window at 451 Adelaide St. W, in the heart of downtown.

It's a smaller operation than before—a tight window setup, not the bright, airy patisseries regulars remember. But the menu remains true: mille crepe slices and cheesecake are available for walk-up orders. The cakes maintain Hua's signature precision: delicate layers, bold flavour, every slice an Instagram moment.

The window sits in a neighborhood dense with food retail and office traffic, a practical new base for a comeback many thought wouldn't happen. For dessert lovers who've been waiting two years to taste Hua's work again, it's worth the detour.
