Nadège Pâtisserie's Queen West location is rolling out Parisian-style picnic baskets Friday through Sunday, pre-orders only: $25 per person for a croissant sandwich or Provençal quinoa salad, paired with a selection of two petit pâtisseries, all packed in a picture-perfect wicker basket with a $20 refundable-deposit blanket included.

Owner and chef Nadège Nourian drew the concept from her own childhood memories. "Picnics have always been connected to some of my happiest memories," she said. "When I was growing up in France, my parents took us on so many picnics. During the pandemic, my family and I began creating those same memories with our son here in Toronto. It became such a joyful tradition for us. For me, that captures exactly what a picnic represents: memories, friendship, family, sharing delicious food and having fun together."

Nadège Pâtisserie now houses the Chez Nad bistro in its Queen West space, with a full bar ready to serve drinks. Options include house-made ice cream and sorbet, beverages, French wines, and cocktails like the French Affair (vodka, crème de cassis, sparkling lemonade)—designed to travel.

Each basket purchase includes a voucher redeemable at Chez Nad for the Apéritif à la Française (happy hour), available from 4 p.m. daily. The presentation—generously assembled, blanket-included—removes the planning hassle while keeping the picnic feeling special.

"We wanted the basket to feel like a complete meal and a genuine occasion," Nourian said. "It removes the planning and preparation while still making the picnic feel special, generous and beautifully put together."
