The viral soft-serve margarita has arrived in Toronto. The boozy marriage of soft-serve ice cream and a tequila-spiked margarita, which swept New York's patio scene on TikTok, is now available at El Catrin in the Distillery District.

El Catrin, part of Distillery Restaurants Corporation, offered the drink in mango, strawberry, or a twist of the two for $17 each. "When we first heard about soft-serve margaritas gaining popularity south of the border, we knew we had to give them a try," says Paula Stark, the assistant director of operations. "After some experimentation and refinement, we realized we had stumbled onto something special."

Stark says the initial response has been positive. One guest told staff, "I can't believe it's just as good eating it frozen as it is drinking it once it's melted." The frozen treat is part of El Catrin's broader summer menu, which includes classic margaritas, frozen margaritas, and the Mayan—a mix of El Jimador Reposado, dry curaçao, tamarind, lime, and Tajín rim.

While the soft-serve version was originally positioned as a seasonal special, Stark says the restaurant will keep it on the menu as long as people keep ordering it.
