AC/DC's concert at Rogers Stadium scheduled for September 16 is cancelled due to structural damage sustained during a severe storm last week.
The 50,000-capacity venue in Downsview's north grandstands collapsed during what secondary sources described as a "100-year storm." The City of Toronto issued an "order to remedy unsafe building" to Live Nation Canada on September 3, giving the operator until September 8 to report on damage and repair timelines. The city received an engineering assessment on September 9.
Wayne Zronik, president of business operations for Live Nation Canada, said the decision prioritizes safety. "Cancelling a concert is never a decision we want to make, and we know how disappointing this will be for all of us who have been looking forward to seeing AC/DC close out our summer season," Zronik said. "Safety has to come first. The right decision is to take the time to remove and rebuild the affected parts of the stadium to ensure it is ready to welcome fans next summer."
Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded in full. Fans who bought resale tickets should contact their point of sale. The city is currently reviewing Live Nation's damage report, but the extent of structural damage, repair costs, and a precise reopening date for the venue have not been disclosed.
