A gas leak in Brampton's Madoc area forced the evacuation of all homes on a residential street Sunday evening after a hired contractor working in a backyard struck a natural gas line.
Emergency crews were called just before 5 p.m. on September 6 to a residential unit near Seaborn and Bingham Roads. The property owner said that the contractor had hit the gas line while working in the backyard. Brampton Fire Services and Enbridge Gas technicians responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported. The city has not said how many residential units were evacuated or when residents will be able to return to their homes. Enbridge Gas has not provided an estimated timeline for restoration of service to the area.
