Two people are recovering after a home invasion and shooting in Brampton early Sunday morning.
Police in Peel Region responded to a home on Brent Tree Crescent, near McLaughlin Road and Highway 407, just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 14. Suspects forced their way in and an altercation ensued, with an unknown number of shots fired.
A man and a woman were taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. Their condition has since stabilized to non-life-threatening.
The two victims lived at the residence with as many as four other people, who were unharmed. Police say it's unclear whether the victims and suspects knew each other.
The suspects fled the scene wearing all-black clothing. Police say they're still searching for at least two people involved.
Constable Tyler Bell emphasized the importance of community awareness. "Everybody knows who comes and goes in their small neighbourhoods, like a court like this," he said. "If you recognize anything that seems out of place, anything suspicious, please call it in to police."
Police could not confirm whether this home invasion is tied to similar incidents in the area.
