A man in his 20s died in a two-vehicle collision in Brampton Saturday night, with five others hospitalized.
Peel Regional Police responded around 10:44 p.m. to the crash near McVean Drive and Countryside Drive. The driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and three passengers from the other vehicle were also hospitalized. Of those four, the driver and one passenger have life-threatening injuries, one passenger has non-life-threatening injuries, and another has life-altering injuries. All individuals involved were men in their 20s.
At the scene, one vehicle was in the intersection while the other had veered off the road onto a nearby residential lawn. Police say one vehicle appears to have run a red light, though alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Investigators are reviewing the incident and charges are pending. Westbound lanes on Countryside Drive have reopened, though the area remains partially closed as police work to remove a vehicle.
