Chanelle Allcock-Radmore, 38, was struck and killed by a vehicle near Eglinton Avenue and Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga early Sunday morning while crossing the street. The driver fled the scene heading eastbound on Eglinton. Peel police continue to investigate.
Allcock-Radmore was a newly wed who had just celebrated her 38th birthday on June 1. She had married Shawn Radmore on May 22, and the couple were planning to honeymoon in Japan. She was dropping her husband at Credit Valley Hospital for an appointment when she was struck.
"She dropped him off, parked her car, and crossed the street. She didn't make it to the other side," said her mother, Mel Allcock.
Family members described her as loving, thoughtful, and deeply compassionate. Her husband noted she was "very attentive to other people's needs" and "will be there for anybody if they need it."
"She'll be telling people happy birthday even if they just met once," Radmore said.
Her brother Dennis called her "the kindest-hearted person" who was "always happy no matter what."
Police say they believe the vehicle will have substantial front-end damage to the hood and windshield. Police spokesperson Sgt. Tyler Bell-Morena urged the driver to turn themselves in, saying there is "absolutely no reason that anyone who hit a pedestrian... would not know they have struck somebody."
