A search is underway for a 73-year-old experienced pilot whose single-seat home-built aircraft failed to return to Oshawa Airport on August 15.
Ontario Provincial Police say the pilot departed Oshawa Airport at 8:30 a.m. in a small blue plane marked with "FOFZ" on the tail and was expected to return an hour later. The last known location of the aircraft is believed to be around Balsam Lake, in the area between Kawartha Lakes township and Lake Scugog where the pilot typically flies.
The pilot is described as five-foot-seven with a slim build, black and grey hair, and a moustache. The aircraft is a single-seat, home-built plane.
Authorities in Kawartha Lakes and Durham Region are seeking public assistance in locating the aircraft. Anyone with information about the plane or its whereabouts is urged to contact police.
