Durham Regional Police are looking for three youths in connection with a stabbing at the Landmark Cinemas on Consumers Drive in Whitby, near Thickson Road and Highway 401, just after 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 25.

The victim, a 15-year-old boy, told police he had gone to meet a friend he knew through social media at the theatre. A group of youths approached him and demanded his jacket. He refused to hand over his belongings. The suspect then struck him in the arm with a machete, and the group assaulted him, taking his jacket and cash.

First responders treated the boy at the scene before he was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Police have identified two of the suspects: a 15-year-old boy from Oshawa and a 17-year-old boy from Pickering. Arrest warrants have been issued for both. A third suspect, described only as a male youth, has not yet been identified.

DRPS has described the incident as "believed to be an isolated incident." The investigation is ongoing.

The case comes after a series of teen-linked violence stories HighOnCity has covered this year, including a September stabbing in Etobicoke that led to a 17-year-old's arrest, and a June guilty plea in a Scarborough cinema rampage.
