Bonnie Crombie confirmed Sunday that she intends to run for mayor of Mississauga, seeking to reclaim the top job she held from 2014 to 2024.

Crombie left the position to lead the Ontario Liberal Party but resigned as party leader earlier this year following a disappointing third-place finish in the 2025 Ontario general election. She received 57 per cent support in a party leadership review but the poor electoral results prompted her departure.

Voters will head to the polls on Monday, October 26, 2026 to decide whether to return Crombie to City Hall. She announced her candidacy in an interview with 680NewsRadio on Sunday, July 12.
