Bar staff working at the FIFA Fan Festival have been paid in full after allegations of unpaid wages involving a third-party vendor circulated on social media this week.

A Reddit post that gained significant attention alleged that workers employed by Roam Bar Concepts had gone nearly four weeks without pay while working at the festival. The post also claimed that tip distribution remained unclear and that some employees had not signed contracts.

After the post gained traction online and media outlets began making inquiries, the worker said a portion of outstanding wages had been sent via e-transfer. "This wasn't the full amount we were owed and it didn't include tips, but it was still something," the user wrote.

The City of Toronto said it became aware of the delayed payments involving the third-party vendor and immediately worked with the company to resolve the issue. "The vendor has advised that all outstanding wages for this pay period have been paid in full. We appreciate the concerns raised and will continue to monitor the situation," a city spokesperson said. The city added that contractors and subcontractors working on City projects are expected to comply with Toronto's procurement requirements, including standards related to fair wages, ethical business practices, and all applicable laws and contractual obligations. The city did not address allegations regarding unpaid tips or unsigned employment contracts.
