GO Transit commuters should expect delays of at least 10 to 15 minutes as trains are forced to travel at slower speeds due to extreme heat, Metrolinx said Wednesday. The provincial transit agency is carrying out heat-related track patrols to inspect rails across the system.
Several trains have been cancelled due to weather conditions, including the 1:39 p.m. Lakeshore East train to Union Station, the 4:18 p.m. Kitchener train to Bramalea GO, and the 5:28 p.m. Kitchener train to Union Station. Service on some trains has also been modified: Lakeshore East trains at 3:52 p.m. eastbound and 4:09 p.m. westbound will stop at Pickering GO due to track conditions, with passengers told to wait for the next possible trains going further east or west.
Other trains running Wednesday afternoon faced delays ranging from five minutes to more than 20 minutes. Metrolinx urged passengers to check train schedules ahead of their trips.
