Heavy rain is expected to drench the Greater Toronto Area this weekend, with up to 50 millimetres falling as a low pressure system rolls through.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Saturday covering the entire GTA, including Halton Hills, Toronto, and Oshawa. The system will bring the heaviest rainfall Saturday night into early Sunday morning, gradually easing to drizzle as it moves west to east.

Temperatures Saturday will peak at 13°C before warming to 21°C on Sunday, though the rain may keep actual conditions feeling cooler. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority said flooding at local watersheds isn't expected, but water levels will rise and flow faster at rivers and streams. Residents are advised to avoid riverbanks and shorelines, especially with children and pets.

For weekend outdoor plans, umbrellas are essential. The rain shouldn't cause major disruptions, but drivers should account for reduced visibility on highways and local roads.
