Splash Works Water Park Delays Opening to May 30
Canada's Wonderland's popular water park is pushing back its seasonal debut by a week due to frigid, rainy weather across the GTA.
Splash Works at Canada's Wonderland won't be welcoming swimmers this weekend. The massive 20-acre water park, which was set to open Saturday, May 23, is delaying its seasonal debut to May 30—thanks to Mother Nature.
Environment and Climate Change Canada's forecast for this weekend is miserable: Saturday brings a high of just 11°C with steady rain, and Sunday, while warmer at 20°C, is punctuated by on-and-off showers. It's the kind of weather that empties a water park fast.
Once it finally opens, Splash Works has plenty to draw crowds. The park features everything from towering waterslides to Canada's largest outdoor wave pool, a lazy river, and the headline-grabbing Muskoka Plunge—a 60-foot-tall, near-vertical slide that sends riders down at 40 kilometres per hour. Wonderland guests recently told media they don't mind waiting an hour or two for a roller coaster; on a scorching summer day, Splash Works lineups could stretch even longer.
Tickets for Canada's Wonderland (which include Splash Works access) start at $45 plus tax and can be bought online or at the park. For now, dry your swimsuit and check back next week.
