Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider managed the American League All-Star team in Philadelphia this week and shared a special moment with his nine-year-old son, Gunnar, at a media press conference.

During a question-and-answer session, Gunnar raised his hand and asked Schneider what his favourite part about the 2025 season was. Schneider introduced his son to the room, then reflected on the highlights.

"Gunnar, there were a lot of memorable moments in 2025, and thankfully, you were there for a lot of them along with Mom and Grayson," Schneider said. He named winning the American League pennant at Rogers Centre near the top of his list, with the memories of the World Series—despite the Blue Jays' loss—as a close second. He also joked with Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who was managing the National League team.

Schneider closed his answer by focusing on what truly mattered to him. "It was the special bond the team had, and being able to share it with you guys. Love ya," he said to his son.

The 46-year-old manager received a two-year contract extension from Toronto's front office in March following the team's 2025 success. Tuesday night's MLB All-Star Game, which aired on Sportsnet at 8 p.m., marked Schneider's first time managing the American League squad—an honour traditionally given to the managers of the defending AL and NL champions.
