The Toronto Tempo have signed Milton, Ontario native Kayla Alexander to a seven-day hardship contract, adding Canadian talent to their frontcourt.
Alexander returns to the WNBA after two seasons with Valencia Basket Club in Spain's Liga Femenina Endesa, where she helped the team capture the 2024-25 championship and earned Finals MVP honours. Before that, she played for Tango Bourges Basket in France, winning the FIBA Europe SuperCup Women title and earning MVP honours.
The six-foot-four centre brings substantial WNBA experience, having been selected eighth overall by the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2013. She has appeared in 203 regular-season games over eight seasons, most recently with the Minnesota Lynx in 2020.
Internationally, Alexander has represented Canada at the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics. She helped Canada win silver at the 2019 FIBA AmeriCup and was inducted into the Syracuse University Hall of Fame in 2024 after finishing as the program's all-time leader in points (2,040) and blocks (350).
The Tempo sit at 9-12 this season and return to action Friday against the Dallas Wings at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
