Marina Mabrey of the Toronto Tempo has been named to the WNBA All-Star roster, becoming the only player from the Tempo to earn the honour.
The guard will join the All-Star game as one of 12 reserve players on July 25 in Chicago. This is her first All-Star selection in her eight-year career.
"It feels really good to be named a WNBA All-Star," Mabrey said in a statement. "After years of hard work and perseverance, it's incredibly validating to be recognized among the best players in the league."
Mabrey has emerged as a cornerstone for Toronto since being drafted to the Tempo. On June 25, she tied the WNBA record for most points in a single game with 53, making 17 of her shots and hitting nine three-pointers.
Head coach Sandy Brondello praised Mabrey's commitment: "Marina's work ethic and commitment to winning show up every single day. She's embraced every challenge, elevated her game and made everyone around her better. We're thrilled to see her recognized as a WNBA All-Star." Mabrey was drafted 19th overall in 2019 and has also played for the Los Angeles Sparks, Dallas Wings, Chicago Sky, and Connecticut Sun before joining Toronto.
