The Toronto Tempo have already mastered a crucial skill during their first WNBA season: playful trash-talking.
After winning 93-91 against the New York Liberty during the second of two exhibition games at Bell Centre in Montreal on Sunday, Toronto's Women's National Basketball Association team celebrated their victory by throwing some lighthearted New York City-themed shade on social media.
Guard Marina Mabrey continued her streak of stellar play, scoring 30 points during the 40-minute game. Despite losing a 20-point lead, the Tempo still managed the win, with forward Nyara Sabally scoring the tie-breaking basket against her former teammates.
On Instagram, the Tempo posted a still of Mabrey in front of a yellow taxi with the caption, "Watch out! We're winning here! 🚕" They followed up with a trio of photoshopped images showing Mabrey, Brittney Sykes, Isabelle Harrison, and Temi Fagbenle in front of The Big Apple attraction in Colborne, Ontario, captioned "Mom said we've got the big apple at home 🍎"
