Kyle Lowry is expected to sign a one-day contract with the Toronto Raptors and retire as a member of the franchise, marking a ceremonial milestone for the team.
The Raptors have scheduled a "milestone press conference" for Tuesday, July 7, at 9 a.m., with general manager Bobby Webster and a special guest. While the team has not confirmed the announcement, the date — July 7 — and Lowry's iconic No. 7 have fueled speculation about the homecoming.
Lowry spent nine of his 20 NBA seasons with Toronto, becoming a six-time All-Star and leading the Raptors to their first NBA championship in 2019. He remains the franchise leader in assists, steals, and three-pointers. If he signs a one-day contract to retire, he would become the first player to retire as a Raptor. Vince Carter had his No. 15 retired by the team but did not sign a one-day contract when he retired.
