Kyle Lowry, the greatest player in Toronto Raptors history, will retire as a member of the team on Tuesday, July 7, signing a one-day contract to make official what he promised six years ago.

The Raptors plan a press conference for the evening, calling it a "monumental moment" in franchise history. The team is expected to announce that Lowry's No. 7 jersey will join Vince Carter's No. 15 in the rafters at Scotiabank Arena—the only two jerseys retired in team history.

Lowry spent nine seasons in Toronto from 2012 to 2021, a tenure defined by excellence and playoff success. He was a six-time All-Star and the backbone of the 2019 championship run, appearing in all 24 games during that playoff run and averaging 15 points and 6.6 assists. When he was traded to Miami before the 2021-22 season, he made clear his intention: "I will retire as a Toronto Raptor."

He ranks first all-time in Raptors history with 4,277 assists, second in games played (601), and second in points (10,530). After playing the last two and a half seasons in his hometown of Philadelphia, Lowry is returning to his basketball home to end his 20-year NBA career.
