Kyle Lowry and his wife, Ayahna Cornish-Lowry, have joined the ownership group of the Toronto Tempo, strengthening the WNBA team's commitment to growing women's basketball in Canada.

The announcement came Tuesday, coinciding with Lowry signing a one-day contract to retire as a Toronto Raptor—fulfilling a promise to end his playing career with the team where he won an NBA championship in 2019. "This feels like a true full circle moment," the couple said in a statement, "to announce our ownership in the Tempo. We're excited to help build something special in Toronto, inspire the next generation of athletes and fans, and support the continued growth of women's basketball in Canada."

Lowry spent nine seasons with the Raptors (2012-2021), becoming a franchise cornerstone and one of the most respected players in team history. Cornish-Lowry is an accomplished basketball player in her own right—she was St. Joseph's University's women's basketball team's Best Offensive Player for two consecutive seasons—and co-founded the Lowry Love Foundation, which supports underserved communities through education, wellness, and sport.

Toronto Tempo Chairman Larry Tanenbaum praised the addition. "Their commitment to community, their passion for growing the game and their belief in the future of women's sports make them outstanding additions to our ownership group."

Fans flooded social media with support. "This is incredible!!! Only love for the Lowrys!" one posted on X. "Whatever keeps Kyle in Canada and involved in basketball development, I'm down for that," another wrote. Many highlighted how the investment extends Lowry's legacy in Toronto beyond his playing days.
