A man was arrested after stealing a marked TTC pickup truck and crashing into multiple vehicles while fleeing police downtown on September 11.
The incident began around 11:23 a.m. when officers arrived at College Street and Bay Street for reports of a stolen TTC vehicle. The suspect took the truck and sped away, colliding with several cars. Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Andrew Boomer, 39, was arrested after the stolen truck was located at Eglinton Avenue West and Royal York Road in Etobicoke. He's been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, dangerous operation, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, operation while prohibited, breach of probation, and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. Boomer made a court appearance on September 12.
Police believe there may be additional victims from the suspect's driving prior to arrest. Anyone with security or dashcam footage from downtown or west-end areas is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
