Advance voting underway for Ontario byelections in Scarborough Southwest and York-Simcoe through Friday

Voters in Scarborough Southwest and York-Simcoe can cast ballots in advance polls from Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., ahead of the provincial byelection on September 3.

In Scarborough Southwest, advance voting locations are: Birchmount Community Centre (93 Birchmount Rd.), Cliffcrest Public Library (3017 Kingston Rd.), Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre (2467 Eglinton Ave E.), and West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre (313 Pharmacy Ave.). Seven candidates are running in the riding after NDP MPP Doly Begum resigned to run for the federal Liberals, winning a federal byelection in April.

In York-Simcoe, advance voting locations are: East Gwillimbury Sports Complex (1914b Mount Albert Rd., Sharon), Multi-Use Recreation Complex/MURC (261 Garrett Styles Dr., Keswick), St. John's Presbyterian Church (2940 Sideroad 10, Bradford), and Sutton Area location (48 Hawkins St., Sutton West). Seven candidates are running after PC MPP Caroline Mulroney, a former Ontario cabinet minister, resigned from politics in June.

To vote, a person must be 18 or older, a Canadian citizen and an Ontario resident. Voters can check their registration and locate their polling location using Elections Ontario's voter information service. On election day, September 3, voters can cast ballots at their assigned voting locations.
